Area Sales Manager
Job Purpose:
As a Area sales manager, you will be responsible for running the company store as if it is your own business – you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the store activities and employees, requiring you to make all critical decisions to ensure outstanding performance from both the team and sales results. In addition, you will be responsible for executing the sales and marketing strategy for the store, including making direct sales to customers in the field, organizing and implementing awareness raising and sales activities in your territory, and managing customer relationships You will ensure that the company brand is well-known in your territory, create a good customer experience for the customers, and work with the rest of the store team to ensure customer orders are fulfilled.
Duties & Responsibilities:
● Lead the store in reaching goals and objectives related to sales, productivity, profitability and territory penetration by creating and implementing your business strategy
● Perform human resource activities such as performance evaluations, disciplining and motivating employees and positive feedback
● Prepare reports for senior management
● Inventory planning, control and management
● Oversee the scheduling and output of the sales team
● Planning and executing store marketing and sales initiatives
● Ensuring compliance with all company Standard Operating Procedures
● Keep detailed management and accounting records, including all invoices, inventory
control documents and delivery notes
● Execution of sales and marketing activities in your territory
● Direct field sales to customers including households, businesses and retailers
● Coordinate with the rest of the store team to ensure customers receive orders
● Promoting brand awareness in your territory
● Provide feedback to store manager about results of sales and marketing activities, customer feedback, and growth opportunities for the store
● Customer outreach and education about company water and our products
● Manage customer relationships, including visits to their homes or workplaces to
gather feedback and strengthen the bond
● Preparing regular reports, including sales and marketing reports
● Manage customer databases, ensuring they are complete and updated
● Any other responsibilities as required by the CSO
Qualifications
Minimum Experience Requirements:
● Have experience managing a team
● Have previous experience coordinating marketing campaigns
● Have experience working for a for-profit business
● Have previous sales experience, preferably for a FMCG (fast moving consumer
good) company
● Have excellent communication skills; you are able to present updates about your store to the team in a clear and informative way
● Have good interpersonal skills; you are pro-active, enjoy talking to people from different backgrounds, enjoy meeting new people and developing relationships with them
● Have experience in customer-facing roles (direct sales, customer service) and know how to ensure an exceptional customer experience
● Have a strong desire for learning and a “never give up” attitude
● Be proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint
● Be comfortable with financial calculation and analysis
● Be pro-active, quick to think of solutions to problems and try them out
● Be organized and able to develop and work according to a plan
● Be able to influence team members to do what is required
● Be able to represent the company brand to external stakeholders (visitors, potential
investors, etc.)
Minimum Education Requirements:
● Bachelor’s Degree
Preferred Education Requirements:
● Have an educational background in sales & marketing, communications, or business
administration
● Have some experience running your own business
Physical Requirements:
● Some lifting of bottles/inventory at times when required
