Operations and Sales Manager
Purpose of the Job:
The Operations and Sales Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of field operations, including retailer acquisition, operational target achievements, regional operations, vehicle tracking, and financial management. This role also focuses on ensuring compliance with Tanzanian lottery requirements and overseeing the execution of marketing campaigns.
Key Responsibilities:
Retail Rollout:
Set up, recruit, and manage a Field Marketing Service provider for national retailer base recruitment. To Recruit 3,000 retailers and deploy 2,000 on target and on time.
Targets
Ensure operational targets are met as set by the EXCO, including:
- Sales targets for retailers and Field Support Agents.
- Terminal installation targets.
Regional Operations:
- Supervise and coordinate multiple field teams across Tanzania.
- Develop regional strategies aligned with company objectives.
- Manage the national field operations budget, balancing costs and operational needs.
- Track regional team performance and ensure targets are consistently met.
- Implement standardized operational procedures across all regions.
- Address and resolve field-specific issues to minimize operational disruptions.
Vehicle Tracking:
- Monitor vehicle location, movement, and status in real-time.
- Analyze fuel consumption and driver behavior (speed, idling, adherence to routes).
- Optimize routes to improve operational efficiency and reduce costs.
- Ensure fleet operations comply with legal requirements and company policies.
- Report on vehicle performance and usage for strategic decision-making.
Operations Compliance:
- Ensure all field operations comply with Tanzanian lottery requirements.
- Implement and enforce safety procedures to protect employees and equipment.
- Conduct audits and inspections for compliance verification.
- Provide regular training to field personnel to ensure certification and compliance.
- Identify compliance risks and mitigate them.
- Update compliance programs to reflect changes in regulations and best practices.
Financial Management and Reporting:
- Manage the budget for field operations, including staffing, equipment, and travel.
- Monitor and report on expenses, revenue generation, and inventory.
- Ensure all financial activities comply with regulations, company policies, and procedures.
- Oversee capital expenditures and maintain control of field operation costs.
- Identify financial risks and implement mitigation strategies.
Reporting and Feedback:
- Provide regular feedback to field staff on performance and areas for improvement.
- Generate and submit detailed reports on sales performance, compliance, and operational efficiency.
- Document and report incidents, issues, or equipment failures in the field.
- Prepare reports on marketing campaigns, sales, and customer engagement.
- Provide detailed updates on special projects or initiatives undertaken by field teams.
Marketing Campaign Assistance:
- Coordinate the execution of regional marketing campaigns.
- Ensure alignment with the overall strategy and provide insights on market conditions.
- Support retail outlets in promoting and executing marketing campaigns.
- Train field staff and retailers on campaign details and goals.
- Address logistical challenges and resolve any campaign-related issues.
- Gather feedback and report on campaign performance and areas for improvement.
Key Account Management:
- Acquire and onboard new B2B partners and key accounts.
- Grow the retailer base and maintain strong relationships with key clients.
- Identify upselling and cross-selling opportunities within accounts.
- Conduct regular client visits and provide training as needed.
- Track and report on sales performance, customer feedback, and market conditions.
Job Requirements:
- Qualifications Required: University Certificate in Sales and Marketing
- Qualifications Preferred: University Degree in Sales and Marketing
- 5+ years in business management, including sales.
- 5+ years in a lottery or gaming sales environment.
