Automotive Electrician

Purpose of the role

The candidate for this role will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining vehicle electrical systems, ensuring optimal performance, safety, and reliability of all automotive electrical components.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose electrical faults in vehicles using appropriate diagnostic tools and testing equipment.

  • Repair and maintain vehicle wiring systems, lighting, ignition, and charging systems.

  • Install electrical components such as alarms, tracking devices, sensors, and audio systems.

  • Perform complete vehicle wiring harness replacement where required.

  • Service and maintain alternators, starter motors, and battery systems.

  • Troubleshoot and repair electronic control units (ECUs) and related components.

  • Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on electrical systems.

  • Interpret and work from technical diagrams, schematics, and wiring layouts.

  • Ensure all electrical repairs and installations comply with safety and manufacturer standards.

  • Maintain accurate records of repairs, diagnostics, and parts used.

  • Collaborate with other technicians to resolve complex mechanical and electrical issues.

  • Respond to breakdowns and provide on-site electrical support when required.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Certificate or Diploma in Automotive Electrical Engineering or a related field

  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in automotive electrical work

  • Strong knowledge of complete vehicle electrical systems, preferably FAW Jiefang and Sinotruk HOWO

  • Experience in wiring harness replacement, alternator, and starter motor servicing

  • Experience with electronic fuel injection (EFI) systems is an added advantage

  • Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and electrical testing equipment

  • Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams and technical manuals

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills

  • Good communication and teamwork abilities

  • Ability to follow instructions and work under minimal supervision

  • Willingness to travel for fieldwork when required
