IT Technician
Job Summary
The IT Support Technician will be responsible for installing, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting the organization’s overall technology infrastructure. This includes robust network connectivity (LAN/WAN), hardware lifecycle management (computers and printers), server administration, specialized enterprise systems (Biometrics and Weighbridge), IP/Analog CCTV surveillance networks, and providing timely technical support to end-users to ensure business continuity.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
1. Network Infrastructure & Connectivity Management
• Structured Cabling & Fiber Optics: Design, install, and terminate structured LAN cabling (Cat6) and fiber optic links to ensure stable data transmission across departments.
• Network Device Configuration: Configure, deploy, and manage network switches, core routers, and wireless links (including Ubiquiti Nanostations/Access Points) for seamless intranet and internet connectivity.
• Network Monitoring: Monitor network performance, optimize bandwidth allocation, and troubleshoot connectivity bottlenecks.
2. CCTV & Surveillance Systems Management
• Camera Deployment & Configuration: Install, align, and configure both IP and Analog security cameras across the company premises.
• Storage & Recording Management: Manage Network Video Recorders (NVR) and Digital Video Recorders (DVR), ensuring continuous recording, proper storage allocation, and data retention policies.
• Remote Monitoring Support: Setup and maintain secure remote viewing applications on authorized user devices (laptops/smartphones) and troubleshoot feed outages.
3. Computer Hardware & Peripheral Support
• Hardware Lifecycle Management: Provision, configure, and maintain user end-point devices including laptops, desktops, and workstations.
• Operating Systems & Software Deployment: Install and update authentic operating systems (Windows/Linux) and essential corporate software (MS Office, Antivirus, ERP clients).
• Printer & Scanner Fleet Management: Setup, configure, and maintain networked/local printers, multifunction copiers, and heavy-duty scanners, including refilling/toner troubleshooting.
4. Server Administration & Data Management
• Server Maintenance: Assist in monitoring physical and virtual servers to ensure high uptime and optimal hardware health.
• Backup & Recovery: Execute routine data backup schedules and assist in data recovery processes to prevent data loss.
5. Specialized Enterprise Systems (Biometrics & Weighbridge)
• Biometric & Access Control Systems: Install, configure, and maintain biometric attendance devices and electronic door access controls. Manage user registration and log extractions for HR.
• Weighbridge ICT Support: Troubleshoot and maintain the dedicated computers, communication modules, and data interfaces connected to the Weighbridge system to ensure uninterrupted logistics operations.
6. IT Helpdesk & User Support
• Technical Support (Helpdesk): Provide daily Tier 1 and Tier 2 technical support to all staff members (physical and remote resolution).
• Preventive Maintenance: Conduct regular preventive maintenance (hardware cleaning, dust blowing, system scans) on all IT hardware to prolong device lifespans.
Job Requirements & Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree or Advanced Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field.
• At least 1–2 years of hands-on experience in networking, hardware troubleshooting, CCTV installation, and system support.
• Certifications (Added Advantage): Professional certifications like CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate), CompTIA A+, or surveillance vendor certifications (Hikvision/Dahua).
• Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking, routing protocols, and wireless links (Nanostations).
• Practical knowledge of CCTV camera configuration, NVR/DVR management, and video storage troubleshooting.
• Expertise in configuring biometric software and troubleshooting specialized industrial IT interfaces (like Weighbridges).
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills under high-pressure scenarios.
