Multiskilled Heavy Equipment Operator – PC / Excavator / Wheel Loader (Mtwara)
The candidate for this role will be responsible for safely and efficiently operating excavators/PC and wheel loaders across construction, mining, quarrying, road works, and earthmoving operations.
Purpose of the role
The candidate for this role will be responsible for safely and efficiently operating excavators/PC and wheel loaders across construction, mining, quarrying, road works, and earthmoving operations, while carrying out routine equipment inspections, basic operator-level maintenance, and maintaining compliance with workplace health and safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Safely operate excavators/PC and wheel loaders in accordance with operating procedures, site requirements, and safety standards.
Carry out earthmoving, loading, excavation, material handling, and related equipment operations as assigned.
Conduct daily pre-start and routine equipment inspections and identify and report mechanical or operational issues.
Perform basic operator-level maintenance and ensure equipment is kept in safe and serviceable operating condition.
Follow instructions from supervisors and coordinate effectively with other operators and site personnel.
Operate equipment appropriately according to ground conditions, work requirements, and site conditions.
Maintain awareness of surrounding personnel, vehicles, structures, and other hazards while operating heavy equipment.
Follow workplace health and safety requirements and established site procedures at all times.
Maintain good housekeeping around the equipment and work area.
Perform any other duties related to heavy equipment operation as assigned by supervisors or management.
Qualifications & Experience
Valid heavy equipment operator certification/licence as required by applicable local regulations
Demonstrated experience operating excavators/PC and wheel loaders
Minimum of 2–3 years of relevant operating experience, preferably in construction, mining, quarrying, road works, or earthmoving operations
Ability to carry out basic daily equipment inspections and operator-level maintenance
Good understanding of workplace health and safety requirements
Ability to follow instructions, work as part of a team, and communicate effectively with supervisors and other operators
Experience operating different sizes/models of excavators and wheel loaders is an added advantage
Experience working in challenging terrain, quarry, mining, or large-scale construction environments is an added advantage
Manufacturer or recognized heavy-equipment operator training/certification is an added advantage
Experience working with GPS/machine-control systems is an added advantage
