The Human Resources Manager is responsible for managing the company's human resource’s function, ensuring effective recruitment, employee development, performance management, employee relations, compliance, and implementation of HR policies and procedures.
The role will support management in building a productive, professional, and engaged workforce aligned with the company's business objectives.
Responsibilities
HR Strategy & Planning
Develop and implement HR policies, procedures, and systems in line with company objectives.
Prepare annual HR plans and manpower requirements in consultation with management.
Advise management on staffing, organizational structure, employee matters, and HR best practices.
Maintain an effective HR administration and employee records system.
Recruitment & Selection
Coordinate the full recruitment process from manpower planning to onboarding.
Prepare job descriptions and person specifications for vacant positions.
Advertise vacancies, shortlist candidates, conduct interviews, and coordinate selection.
Conduct reference and background checks where appropriate.
Ensure new employees receive proper induction and onboarding.
Employee Relations
Maintain positive employee relations and address workplace concerns professionally.
Handle employee grievances, disciplinary matters, and conflict resolution in accordance with company policies and applicable employment requirements.
Advise managers and employees on HR policies and employment matters.
Promote a professional, respectful, and productive working environment.
Performance Management
Coordinate the company's performance appraisal and review process.
Support managers in setting employee objectives and KPIs.
Monitor performance improvement plans where required.
Identify performance and capability gaps and recommend appropriate interventions.
Training & Development
Identify employee training and development needs.
Prepare and monitor the annual training plan and budget.
Coordinate internal and external training programs.
Support career development and succession planning.
Compensation & Benefits
Coordinate payroll inputs and ensure employee information is accurate and up to date.
Administer employee benefits, leave, allowances, and other employment-related matters.
Work closely with Finance to ensure timely and accurate payroll processing.
Maintain confidentiality of salary and employee information.
HR Compliance & Documentation
Ensure HR practices comply with applicable employment laws, regulations, and company policies in Tanzania.
Maintain accurate personnel files and HR records.
Monitor employment contracts, probation periods, leave records, attendance, and employee documentation.
Prepare HR reports for management as required.
Support management during labour inspections, audits, and other official HR-related requirements.
Health, Safety & Employee Welfare
Work with management and relevant departments to promote a safe and healthy workplace.
Support implementation of workplace health and safety policies.
Coordinate employee welfare initiatives.
Promote awareness of company rules, safety requirements, and professional conduct.
HR Reporting
Prepare monthly and periodic HR reports covering headcount, recruitment, turnover, absenteeism, leave, training, performance, and other key HR indicators.
Maintain an updated organizational chart and employee database.
Provide management with HR information and recommendations to support decision-making.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Industrial Relations, or a related field,
Professional HR qualification is highly desirable.
Minimum 5 years of relevant HR experience, preferably with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial position.
Experience in an engineering, construction, manufacturing, industrial, trading, or technical-services company is an advantage.
Good knowledge of employment and labour requirements applicable in Tanzania.
Experience with HR systems, payroll processes, and Microsoft Office.
